The hike started off a little steeper than we thought. As we trudged up the switch backs, our bodies became warm and loose and the trek felt easier. The morning light cast a beautiful glow on the thin layer of frost which covered nearly everything. The more we walked, the more the rail evened up and became increasingly covered by the forest. We passed ponds and streams and didn't see anyone until we made our way out. This was exactly what we had hoped for. The trail was all ours on this gorgeous, sunny fall day.

As we broke through the trees to the bluff we were greeted by a tremendous view of Horseshoe Bay. The bluff dropped quickly into a wall of trees and into the ocean. Islands poked out of a sea that melted into distant clouds. We were all excited and taken aback by the breath taking view. Unfortunately, we didn't have long as Lindsey had to go to work. We paused for a quick Cliff Bar break and then reluctantly returned to the path to the trail head.
I can't wait to go back!
